A thing I learned long ago is that having a preference doesn't mean I'm going to get what I want. It *does* mean that both I and the other person (if it's a two-or-more-person exchange) will have more information in order to make a decision. And, as always, writing this comment helps me clarify a decision which I'm currently struggling to make.

I’m admittedly, laughing to myself because I now have a mantra of:
Don’t ask what the decision is. Don’t ask what the decision is. Don’t ask what the decision is.

And the more I’m paying attention to interactions around me the more I’ve noticed my off-line friends saying:
It’s like you say to me all the time: It is all information.
I say that all the time. Tangent somewhat from the content of the article – – it’s taken me decades to realize everything is just information.
Carla assigned to it whether it’s good or bad. Or she used to.
But it’s all just information around which we can make decisions.
